Ajay, Ashwini named in Indian squad

Top players such as Saina Nehwal and P Kashyap will not participate in the event as they will be be busy preparing for the Indian Open Super series tournament from April 26.
National champion Arvind Bhat has also opted out of the event due to injury while Chetan Anand is busy playing elsewhere.

In the absence of these big names, the troika of Ajay Jayaram, Saurabh Verma and B Sai Praneeth will present India’s challenge in the men’s singles event. Aditi Mutatkar will be spearheading the women’s campaign.

In doubles, Commonwealth Games gold medallists Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa will be among the favourites.

The teams: Men’s singles: Ajay Jayaram, Saurabh Verma, B Sai Praneeth. Men’s doubles: Akhshay Dwalkar/ Arun Vishnu; Jishnu Sanyal/ Manu Attri; Pranav Chopra/ Kona Tarun.

Women’s singles: Aditi Mutatkar, Neha Pandit, P C Thulasi, Arundhati Pantwane. Women’s doubles: Jwala Gutta/ Ashwini Ponnappa; Aparna Balan/ Prajakta Sawant; Pradanya Gadre/ P Jyotsana.

Mixed doubles: Arun Vishnu/ Aparna Balan; Kona Tarun/ Ashwini Ponnappa; Pranav Chopra/ Prajakta Sawant, Akhshay Dewalkar/ Pradanya Gadre.
