Chirag United, who dictated terms in the midfield in the first half, took the lead in the 29th minute when Sunil Chhetri’s bi-cycle kick off a Josimar pass found the net.

Defender Chika Wali, who shadowed Odafe Okolie throughout the match, was guilty in conceding the equaliser when he tried to clear a cross from Raju Yumnam from the right but ended up finding his own net in the 61st minute.

The goal spurred Churchill Brothers, who went into attacking mode and scored four minutes later.

Charan Rai initiated the move from the left as he relayed the ball to Odafe Okolie who chested the ball to Zakeer Mundampara who inturn volleyed home. The win takes Churchill Brothers to second spot with 43 points from 21 matches, the same as Salgaocar who have played three matches less than Churchill.

On Saturday, East Bengal scored a 2-1 win against Mohun Bagan at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata.

In an other match on Saturday, Ajay Singh scored in the 11th minute to help JCT in their 1-0 win against Mumbai FC.
