Lokpal Bill not the only solution, says Pillai

Speaking on the sidelines of the college day function of St Joseph’s College of Arts and Science, Pillai, an alumnus of the college, said: “The problems we are faced with are very complex in nature and one Bill cannot be a solution to problems of this nature. We have many laws, we need to implement them effectively.”

“I think there will be a consensus on that across all political parties,” Pillai said.

Pillai also said New Delhi had enough intelligence on Chinese smugglers supplying arms to such groups through Bangkok, Myanmar and other places.

Seizures based on the intelligence were conducted regularly, he added.

He, however, refused to comment on what measures the Centre had adopted to restrict such supplies.

On whether the peace talks between India and Pakistan during the ICC World Cup was a success, Pillai said: “We had good talks and that will be taken forward now.”
