The exhibition was inaugurated by Kannada cine star Ramya and has retailers from Bangalore as well as other parts of the country showcasing varied product offerings for this season. With over 150 stalls open to the visitors, the variety is definitely not a concern for anyone.

The different stalls are selling uncut diamonds, gold, silver and stones like emeralds, rubies, topaz, and sapphire among many other items. From the big brands to the local jewellery store, everything is present under the same roof. Other than jewellery, gold is available in the form of wall hangings and gift items like gold-plated playing cards and rose broaches. “All these items are made from a silicon base and have a gold foil which is five times that of the regular gold foil. And the shiny surface of these items is made so by laser polishing,” said Murtuza F Vora of ‘Aarya 24 kt’. Gold-plated items are available at many stalls. “We are selling hand-made jewellery which have semi precious stone on silver base items. All these are manufactured in Jaipur but designed in Bangalore,” said Meeta Gupta, from Sanctity.

Some stall owners are literally going by the saying ‘old is gold’. They are showcasing new gold jewellery styled in dull gold to give them an antique look.

The exhibition has a special ‘Jaipur Pavilion’ for kundan-meenakari works from Jaipur. Four leading jewellers from the region namely ‘Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas Jewellers’, ‘Ghatiwala Jewellers’, ‘Rawat Jewels’ and ‘Tatiwalsas’ are participating. The collection of kundan-meenakari works form an integral part of the wedding ensemble particularly in Rajasthan.

Kundan stone work is quite a hit in the exhibition and is being exhibited at a lot of places. These include both ornate wedding jewellery as well as casual wear. “We are selling gold-plated jewellery studded with kundan stones. The designs are influenced by jewellery worn by Rajput and Mughal royals and these are mostly for party wear,” said Manjit Singh from M S Kundan Creations.

Beaded jewellery and stones are also quite a crowd-puller. The ‘Best of India Jewellery Show’ is being held till April 17 at Tripura Vasani, Palace Grounds.
