Kids of aided schools too will get free textbooks

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore on Monday, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Visveshwara Hegde Kageri announced that the State government had already made 70 per cent of the textbooks available at the taluk level.

The remaining 30 per cent would be made available by the end of this month. The unaided schools can give demand drafts and purchase the books, the minister added. Stating that the quality of books this year was better compared to previous years, he said the State had printed 5.5 crore text books in 325 titles.

Uniforms

The State government will distribute about 7.5 lakh uniforms during this academic year for students in government schools.

Kageri said the State had decided to distribute two pairs of uniforms to students this academic year.

While one pair each will be distributed immediately, the other will be distributed in the middle of the academic year.
