Yeddyurappa, who held a review meeting with top officials of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) and various other departments at his residence in the City had sought the details of the progress of the work.

The top officials made a power point presentation regarding the funds released to their respective departments, the amount utilised and the money remaining within their departments and the pending amount to be released by the government.

The Chief Minister, after going through the presentation, directed that there should not be any delay in implementing the projects.

New names today

State BJP chief K S Eshwarappa has said that the names of the new mayor and deputy mayor will be announced on Thursday evening.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Chief Minister Yeddyurappa at the latter’s residence, he said that he will have a meeting with all MLAs and MPs of the City and prepare a final list.

Stressing that the meeting between him and the chief minister just focussed on the appointment of mayor and deputy mayor, he attributed the lengthy meeting to the long list of aspirants for both the posts.

“We have shortlisted it and will be announcing it on Thursday evening,” he said.

Sharadamma frontrunner

The ruling BJP is understood to have decided to anoint Shettihalli corporator Sharadamma as the next Mayor. N Nagaraj is likely to be the Deputy Mayor.

The plan was finalised on Wednesday night at a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. The post has been reserved for Scheduled Caste woman candidate while the Deputy Mayor's post is reserved for backward caste candidate.

The Council has five SC women corporators and they, along with their husbands were lobbying for the post, but Sharadamma's case was strong from the beginning.
