Offering a wide variety of vada pavs to Bangaloreans is ‘1966 Vadapav’, a tiny hole in the wall in Wilson Garden.  Right opposite the Hombe Gowda playground, this eight-old-month joint has already gained immense popularity.

People from far flung areas in the City too are aware about the joint in Wilson Garden and will direct you to the place.

The place, offering some great finger food, was started as a tribute to the first vada pav stall in Mumbai, started at the Dadar station by Ashok Vaidya in 1966.

Bangaloreans have a host of options to choose from when it comes to vada pav. To begin with, they offer the conventional aloo vada pav for a mere Rs 18. For paneer lovers, there is the fresh paneer vada pav.

The ‘chilli dip vada pav’ is one of its kind and the hot red sauce gives it an extra zing, making this one a real pataka.

A word of caution to people contemplating this spice-filled journey — This is no ordinary vada pav and surely not for the faint-hearted. The spices can be quite explosive. Catering to this addiction is masala, ‘herb chilli’ and ‘veg tikki vada pav’, which are also available at the joint.

There menu isn’t restricted only to vada pav. They also offer three types of burgers. The ‘herb chilli burger’ has spices ingrained in it and is priced a mere Rs 35. The patty with a crisp outer crust and a soft veggie inner core provides the perfect scrunch, as one bites into the juicy burger. The coleslaw has the right amount of mayonnaise turning the burger into a healthy affair.

The mixed veg burger and the spicy veg burger are something worth trying.
Burger without fries is inconceivable. Completing the fast food experience, people can choose from plain or masala fries.

For those more keen on a nuggety affair, they also offer delicious potato nuggets. Asha B A, a regular at the joint says, “I really enjoy the aloo vada pav. It  doesn’t pinch the pocket at all and is as fresh as it can get.”
