BSY calls for 'constructive' criticism

“Even the 12th century social reformer Basavanna faced stiff opposition to his revolutionary ideas. Some people do not know anything except criticising others. They neither cannot appreciate the good work done by others,” Yeddyurappa said, hitting out at the Opposition parties which have launched an agitation against the government. He was speaking at a function to give away Basava Sri and Vachana Sahitya Sri awards.

The JD(S) has taken up a State-wide janandolana (people’s movement), while the Congress has planned to take out ‘Raj Bhavan chalo’ on Monday opposing the “misrule” of the BJP Government in the State.

“Criticisms are important to correct oneself. I am ready to rectify mistakes, if any, provided one makes constructive criticism. But I am not scared of those who criticise for the sake of it. I will continue to run the administration according to the guidance from the seniors,” he stated. The chief minister claimed that the law and order and fiscal stability of the Government were the best in the country.

Later speaking to reporters, Yeddyurappa said the JD(S) has launched the janandolana to stave off its identity crisis. The party did not get the expected support. “Deve Gowda’s statement that the State government has shaken due to the campaign is “something ridiculous. It shows his (Gowda’s) stupidity,” he said, adding that the JD(S) should be decimated.

Yeddyurappa rubbished speculations that K S Eshwarappa will be removed as the State BJP president. He said Eshwarappa will lead the party in the next Assembly elections and ensure victory with at least 150 seats.
