TV sets in KSRTC buses amuse commuters

The bus passengers, after finishing the household chores and boarded a bus to reach their destinations during the sultry weather in one of the areas in Mysore, were in for a pleasant surprise to see that their bus was equipped with a new flat television set.

The bus passengers will probably not complain of inconvenience anymore as they are compensated with visual effects.

It also brought cheers among the people, especially the youngsters, who can catch up with both  old and new songs the DVD’s of which are played on the monitor. The set is fixed just behind the driver’s seat, where usually the buses hold first aid box and suggestion box, so the driver’s attention is not distracted.But the passengers should be ready to first watch the achievements of the KSRTC as the department has used this equipment as the mouthpiece to make public the facilities available at the bus stand and the number of buses, frequency, etc.

Divisional Controller of Mysore Urban M N Srinivas, , said that seven buses have been fixed with the sets till now. The main objective of having the TV sets is to explain the passengers the facilities available at the bus stand, the number of buses plying and the details on the Volvo bus service. Clippings on awareness during bus travel, at the bus stand will also be displayed to alert the passengers, he added.

The buses that plyon Bogadi, Kuvempunagar, R S Naidunagar and Metagalli routes are fixed with TV sets. The similar facility will be extended to another 13 buses shortly, he added.

The KSRTC has been slowly upgrading its facilities for the benefit of the people. Gone are the old buses as new Marcopolo buses are introduced for the convenience of passengers. In fact, this has evoked good response, especially among senior citizens. 

The response of the plush Volvo buses though was lukewarm at the beginning has picked up now, with more and more passengers opting for it, especially during this summer.
