A meeting of Gram Panchayat President, Secretaries ZP and TP members were held at Taluk Panchayat office under the presidentship of MLA C T Ravi on Monday. The fact that houses not having toilets was revealed during this meeting by Thogarihankal Panchayat President Devaraj.

Devaraj said that the reason for the Panchayat lagging behind is that the Secretary goes to the city thrice a week on the pretext of some or the other meeting. However, the Secretary told that it is on duty that he goes to the city and the President has failed to notice the fact that he has been working even on holidays.

MLA said that the Panchayat President, Secretary and Panchayat Development Officers should work in co-ordination with each other for the success of various projects and schemes. “The Panchayats should look at implementing Total Sanitation Campaign by making use of MGNREGS,” said Ravi.

Noticing that most of the officers had come to the meeting without any preparation, Ravi rebuked them for their careless attitude and said that he will take stern action against them in the next meeting if they continue to behave in the same manner.

Talking about the list of homeless persons in the region, Panchayat Secretary and President said that TP employee named Sharadamma has restricted the number of homeless to 30. When questioned as to why more names cannot be added, she says that only 30 names are sufficient.

MLA immediately summoned Sharadamma and enquired her about the same. He instructed Mallenahalli Secretary to send a fresh list of homeless, siteless and those not having even huts to live, in the region.

MLA asked Taluk Panchayat Executive Director to hold special training for Panchayat Development Officers and Secretary.
