Man jailed for acid attack on wife

Principal District and Sessions Court Judge H P Sandesh awarded jail term to Alla Bakash of Ghousianagar in the city, for throwing acid on his wife Nazia on March 5, 2010. Nazia was buying meat at a shop on that day, when her husband, who had gone missing for months, sprang a surprise only to attack her. She had sustained burns. Asgar Pasha, a passerby who tried to rescue the lady had also suffered burns.

The judge also ordered him to undergo additional imprisonment of one year if he failed to pay the fine amount of ` 25,000, in lieu there of. Besides, the court ordered that, of the fine amount, ` 20,000 to be paid as compensation to Nazia and Rs three thousand to Alla Bakash, said a release from  Principal Public Prosecutor Sudeep Bangera.
