Napoklu had received heavy rains following which coffee crop has suffered huge losses. However neither the district administration nor the government has responded in any way to their problems, alleged the coffee growers.

More than 30 per cent of the coffee harvest was lost due to heavy rains in Napoklu. Most of the coffee plantations in Kodagu faced the same problem. Earlier when similar situation had occurred an expert team had visited the plantations and submitted a report of its findings.

No compensation

However the coffee growers did not get any rain damage compensation, the growers  alleged. Protest against bad roads

Earlier various organisations and the general public protested against the government’s inaction by digging pits in the middle of Old Taluk Road and planting banana saplings.
They were protesting against the bad condition of the roads, which were laid barely four months ago.

They demanded that the roads must be repaired within one week failing which a Napoklu bundh would be called.
