Get out of Karnataka: BJP to Bhardwaj

Last Updated 16 May 2011, 18:17 IST

The leaders including K S Eshwarappa, Venkaiah Naidu and Dharmendra Pradhan besides a whole lot party MLAs, staged a protest for sometime near the Mahatma Gandhi statue near Cubbon Park, to fret and fume against the governor.

Eshwarappa, who usually goes ballistic when it comes the governor, did the same today too.

He said, “If Hans Raj Bhardwaj has self respect, if he has respect for the Constitution and Supreme Court as he claims, he should go out of Karnataka. Even when the Yeddyurappa government has 120 MLAs on its side, he has recommended for President’s Rule. He has done damage to democracy. In case he doesn’t quit Karnataka, then the BJP will begin agitation across the State seeking his ouster.”

BJP workers were displaying placards on which it was written in Kannada - Tolagali, Tolagali, Governor Tolagali (meaning governor must get out).

Addressing the gathering, Venkaiah Naidu, MP said the Centre and the Governor seem to have colluded to oust the BJP government.

“The BJP is ready to accept the challenge politically, constitutionally and legally. Bhardwaj, from the day one in Raj Bhavan, has been functioning like a Congress agent. He is in a hurry to rule the State. He has no respect for the constitution, rule of law or for democracy. He is keen on keeping Delhi happy. It looks like Delhi (meaning Congress) is the sutradhari (puppeteer) and the governor the patradhari (actor).

Comparing the functioning of Bhardwaj to Muhammad bin Tughlaq, Naidu said the governor in the past had reversed his decision on his recommendation for imposition of President’s Rule. “He should stop playing dirty games now at least,” he said.
