Nagarathnamma, a resident of the Masalahalli village in the taluk had lodged a complaint at Chintamani rural police station against her husband Babu Venkat Reddy for physical and psychological harassment and for demanding money.
Police registered a case under Domestic Violence Act, 2006 and filed the chargesheet in a court.
Following Reddy’s conviction, Judge Chandrashekar sentenced him to punishment under three sections.
Public prosecutor Rehman Khan argued on behalf of the petitioner Nagarathnamma.
