The bundh threw life out of gear and those wanting to attend the weddings of their family members had to struggle to get to the venue as no vehicle were seen on the road.
Though shops were seen open in the morning, the shutters were down by afternoon.
The protesters were seen taking out procession on various parts of the city. KSRTC and private transport buses, both remained off road. The bundh was total even in rural areas.
The protesters demanded withdrawal of hike in petrol prices, slashing down the hiked insurance premium and controling the petroleum product prices. The annual examination of Kannur University has been postponed to May 28 due to the bundh.
