The House was debating the issue of the State Intelligence staff keeping a vigil on movements of the Leader of the Opposition.
JD(S) member H C Neeravari stood up to add his views on the issue, however, Deputy Chairman Puttanna, who was conducting the proceedings, did not allow him to speak.
Disappointment
A disappointed Neeravari said, “Every day I come here, sign in the attendance register and have lunch offered in the banquet hall. Also, I claim the daily allowance (DA). If we, members, are meant to only claim DA and have lunch, I don’t want to continue as a member. In such a scenario I would like to resign.”
He later walked out of the House. To this Puttanna replied that it was difficult to conduct the proceedings if every member wanted to speak on every issue raised in the House. However, Neeravari returned to the House in the post-lunch session.
