Polit crisis ruins govt's anniversary plans

Last Updated 21 May 2011, 16:49 IST

The party had planned to launch a drive to disseminate information on its ‘achievements’ to 50 lakh households in the run-up to its third anniversary on May 30. However, the party has now diverted all its energy and workers in support of its agitation demanding that the Centre reject the Governor’s report on imposing President’s rule in the State and initiate the process of recalling Bhardwaj.

A senior party leader said that the BJP had earlier planned to launch its “Namma nadige wardina kadege” (To reach out to wards) programme from Monday.

BJP achievements

The plan was to involve booth-level party workers to contact every household in the State and hand over a pamphlet highlighting the achievements of the BJP government during the last three years, a brief note on party activities and also the work done by the local elected representative. The party had also planned to hold constituency-level conventions next week. “These plans have now been put on hold for the time being. While we are confident that we will tide over the crisis, the timing of the political stand-off has caused us a lot of heartburn,” the leader said.
