Last Updated 23 May 2011, 14:56 IST

"I do not find merit in the plea of petitioner Surendra Pipara for bail, particularly in view of the gravity of the accusation against him and the possibility of his influencing the witnesses if freed on bail," Justice Ajit Bharihoke said.

The court, however, directed the jail Superintendent to ensure his proper medical treatment at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Delhi.

"Jail Superintendent is directed to ensure that Pipara is provided proper treatment at DDU Hospital as per the medical advice," the court said.

"The report of medical board of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital dated May 4, 2011, records that Pipara is a known case of diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, hypertension and kidney disease... presently, he is stable and he can be managed in OPD of DDU Hospital," the court said.

During the arguments, senior advocate N K Kaul had sought his bail on ground that he is suffering from multiple ailments like diabetes, heart problem, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, hyperparathyroidism and arthritis etc.
