It will be a test of nerves and skill in managing an overbearing Opposition and the male-dominated Ruling party leaders along with a prominent Deputy Mayor by her side, S Harish.

For the first time, a woman from the Dalit community will don the role of the first citizen of the City in the house and try to maintain decorum.

Sharadamma will in all likelihood be measured in comparison to the more assertive S K Nataraj, who was partially successful in implementing his Party’s policy matters despite an unruly House.

The former Mayor and three-time corporator from Sarakki left the hot seat after completing his tenure but  incomplete projects along with empty promises.
Sharadamma will be under fire from day one as the Opposition gears up to put pressure on the woman Mayor.

BBMP officials state that the welfare schemes will take centrestage at the monthly meeting on account of the possible rejection of the scheme to distribute tailoring machines. It is learnt that the Palike commissioner and Ruling Party leaders have put forth their opinion on scrapping the scheme.

Palike sources state the first monthly Council meeting for the new financial year will see four members being nominated to the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and Public Library Board.

The chosen corporators will act as the representatives of the Palike on these boards apart from acting as a liaison between the agencies.
