Kargil martyr's parents still wait for govt help

Subedar Singur Medappa’s father and mother have got a zeal to fulfill the dreams of their son who was killed in Kargil war. For the last 10 years, the parents of this martyr have been waiting for the compensation. Now they have decided to appeal to the district administration.

Subedar Singur Medappa sacrificed his life for the country. However, his parents are left with only tears. Medappa was a support to the family. It was on May 4, 1999 that a shell fell on Medappa at Kargil and he breathed his last on May 31, at Military hospital. The compensation of Rs 3 lakh paid by the government and donors have reached his wife.

However, Kuttappa and Ammavva, parents of Medappa did not receive any help from the government. Medappa wanted to build a house for his parents. In fact, the work on the house had commenced. Medappa who has been serving in the Army for 25 years wanted to retire from service after the war and live happily with his parents. However, his dream never fulfilled. The year he took a decision to retire from service, he died. Parents who lost hope to fulfil the dreams of their son to build a house began spending their days in tears. Ten years have passed. Now the parents met AC Akrampash who in turn has assured to make an effort to provide a compensation of Rs 2 lakh.

Now they are hoping to fulfill the dreams of their son. As per the law, if a soldier from Army dies unmarried, then the compensation will be paid to his parents. If he is married, then it will be paid to his wife.

Several parents whose children have sacrificed their life to the country are waiting for government’s help like Kuttappa and Ammavva.
