Last Updated 09 June 2011, 17:44 IST

While the jaggery produced at the park was found melting with substandard quality, a frog was found at the cane juice unit and it holds mirror the apathetic condition of the unit.

These incidents have defeated the purpose for which the jaggery park has been established at a cost of Rs eight crore. This also shows the negligence of the authorities concerned.

Moreover, articles worth Rs One lakh has also gone missing in the park. This has been confirmed by  supervisor Dr Rajanna. The March month’s salary of the workers have been withheld for this reason, he said. Rajanna told Deccan Herald that as the articles are missing or misplaced it can be assumed that it might have been stolen, he opined.

The discrepancies like finding the frog  in the cane juice unit, non-disbursal of salaries, substandard jaggery came to light when mediapersons and technical experts visited the jaggery park.

These lacunae have tarnished  the image of  park whose aim was to produce jaggery without chemicals.

But Rajanna alleged that these incidents have been blown out of proportion by some vested interests and private parties. Commenting on the non-disbursement of salaries to the workers, he said that they are contract workers and the salary for the month of March has not been paid as some articles worth Rs one lakh were found missing.

Though, it is said that these articles have gone missing it is also said that it might have been misplaced. That is the reason, that they had not filed any police complaint in this regard, he said.
