No back door meeting with Ramdev: Moily

Moily also denied the statements made by Art of Living (AOL) founder Sri Sri Ravishankar that the government had urged him to request the yoga guru to call off his fast.

“Ravishankar had called me  from Germany expressing his concerns about the developments in India especially about Ramdev and offered to meet the yoga guru during his visit to Haridwar.

Minister said there is no back door talk with anybody and the UPA government is committed to unearth the black money and addressing issues pertaining to corruption. “The Congress government has so far recovered about Rs 40,000 crore black money. Even the NDA which was in power for more than eight years was sleeping over it,” he said.

Moily asserted that the UPA is committed in wiping out corruption and said that even much before Anna Hazare took to streets, the UPA government was planning to bring the Lokpal bill. “We wanted to place the Lokpal bill before the Parliament. Even now we will complete the draft bill by June 30.”

Seers threaten to join movement

Sri Pejawar Swamiji of Udupi has stated that if the situation were to arise, all ascetic seers would join hands and conduct a mass struggle against corruption and black money, DHNS reports from Bangalore.

In a press statement, the Swamiji said, he had initiated discussions with Suttur Math and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of Art of Living to chart out an amicable solution following the hunger strike by Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare.

He again appealed to Ramdev to stop his fast, and assured him that the religious leaders would extend their support to him.
