<p>Valued at Rs 62 crore, the order for setting up a solar photovoltaic (SPV) power plant near Shivasamudram, in Mandya district, was placed on BHEL by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL).<br /><br />BHEL's scope of work under the contract involves the design, manufacture, supply, installation and operation and maintenance of the solar power plant. With this order, BHEL is presently executing SPV-based power projects of various capacities totalling 16 MW, the company said in a statement here.<br /><br />Solar cells and modules manufactured by BHEL are also exported to countries like Germany, Australia and Italy. The company's PV modules are certified to international standards by JRC, Ispra, Italy.</p>
