High school and college students held protest in front of the taluk office against increased bus pass fare in Shidlaghatta on Monday.

The protesters took out protest march from the college and passed through Ashoka road, T B Road and held a road block for some time. They said last year, the bus pass fare was Rs 1,000 but it has now hiked to Rs 1,180 for college students and Rs 800 to high school students. They urged the government to reduce at least Rs 100 from the hike.

Most of the students come from remote villages and the bus is the only means to reach college. Such unscientific decision by the government would cause inconvenience to students.

They demanded free bus passes to students till second PU. They also sought to alter the bus timings for the sake of college students in remote villages.

They submitted a memorandum to Shirastedar Prakash and KSRTC officer.
