'Legal literacy vital for just social order'

He was speaking at a legal literacy programme organised jointly by the District Legal Services Authority,  Bar Association, and Yashaswini Mahila Mandali, at the Kaduguru DEd college here. He also inaugurated a sapling-planting ceremony.

“From birth to death, man should live within the parameters of the law. So one should always be aware of the laws that concern our day-to-day lives,” he advised.

Expressing concern over the rising number of atrocities against women, he said, “All of us should strive to ensure that the benefits of various laws and provisions meant for the benefit of women reach the needy. We should regard women highly.”

B N Lavanyalata, Secretary of the Legal Services Authority, said, “The law safeguards our life within a specific boundary, and ensures peaceful coexistence.”

Senior Advocate T G Manmatha Reddy delivered a special lecture on the Motor Vehicles Act. Advocates’ Association Secretary Basavarajappa and Chief Secretary of the Bharata Seva Dal, Mubarak, were also present on the occasion.
