BJP, RSS not anti-Muslim: Ravi

Last Updated 11 July 2011, 17:27 IST

He was speaking during the installation ceremony of the newly formed District Wakf Board at Furkania Shadi Mahal in the city recently. Addressing the gathering he said, “there was a time when the people used to look at me suspiciously as though I was their enemy, but today the same community is treating me with love and trust. I have not shown any special priority to any community during my tenure.

I have treated all of them equally. All the religions spread the message of love and harmony but it is we, the people who fight in the name of religion, without understanding the real essence of the religion,” he said, expressing his happiness over the fact that Chikmagalur has been peaceful during his tenure as MLA, which disproved the allegation by apolitical party that the district would burn if was elected to the Assembly.

He claimed that the Bharatiya Janatha Party was not communal and it is a party with nationalistic views.

“RSS too is not anti-Muslim. The parties which have ruled the State earlier used to hardly reserve Rs 35 crore in the budget for the development of the Muslim community.  But the credit goes to the BJP for allocating Rs 330 crore for the development of the minority communities,” he said.

The newly elected President of the Wakf Board Abdul Rahaman Khureshi assured of working for the welfare of the community with the guidance of the MLAs and community members.
