Youth strangled to death by friend

Mahantesh, a resident of Naidu Nagar, Kesare, with the help of another friend had strangulated Madan Kumar on May 19 at Bellur police limits in Mandya district. Later the accused disposed his body in Hemavathi canal. Madan Kumar was a student of Pooja Bhagawath Memorial Mahajana PG Centre, KRS road, said a release from the office of the police commissioner.
Madan Kumar alias Madhu, was living in a rented room at Shivarathreeshwara Nagar. On that ill-fated day, Mahantesh took Madan out in his car, on the pretext of giving him money. Mahantesh’s friend from Holeittige in Gadag was also with them at that time, said the release. 
Mahantesh has said that he summoned his friend from his native to city and hatched a conspiracy to murder Madan. The duo strangled Madan inside the car, using a rope near railway level crossing at Pandavapura. They later disposed the body in the water.

Madan’s father Prabhuswamy, a resident of Kurimandi here had lodged a missing complaint at N R police station on May 25. On July 11, Prabhuswamy told the police that Mahantesh had taken his son (Madan) outside that day.
