99 percent terror attacks stopped: Rahul Gandhi

"I think you have seen... the response of the governments have been very-very prompt, Mr. Chidambaram is heading the efforts. We are responding to it in a quite organised fashion," the Congress MP said.

"It is something that we will fight. It is nothing that we will defeat," he said.
Addressing a press conference here, a day after serial bombings in Mumbai killed at least 17 people and injured more than 130, the Congress general secretary called for efforts to stop terrorist attacks in the country.

“I don't say it is impossible... it is very difficult to stop any single terrorist attack,” he said, adding that 99 percent of attacks had been stopped. “We must stop 100 percent attacks.”
Responding to a reporter's comment that the US had successfully stopped terrorist activities in their land, Gandhi said the US is fighting war somewhere else. “They are losing people in Afghanistan,” he said.

Gandhi, the son of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, is on a two-day visit to Orissa beginning Wednesday to strengthen the grassroots base of the party. He returns to New Delhi Thursday.

Three blasts rocked central-to-south Mumbai Wednesday evening -- at Dadar, Zaveri Bazaar and Opera house.
