Commr for disabilities fumes over non-disbursal of funds

Speaking at a meeting held in Chamarajanagar on Monday, he condemned the negligence of the officials for failing to prepare an action plan for the utilisation of funds at the gram panchayat limits of the four taluks.

He warned of strict action against those negligent officials and also pointed out various departments including department of education for ignoring the same. A letter has been sent to department commissioner in this regard and if they fail to rectify the same it would become inevitable to file criminal proceedings against the officials, he warned. 

Rehabilitation facilities have been created for the physically challenged and specially abled. Voluntary organisations would be given the responsibility of these children. The representatives of the organisations should show interest over the children. Stress should be given over the cleanliness and hygiene and also encourage them to continue their schooling, he suggested.

DC Amaranarayana blamed the officials for not providing necessary information to the rural rehabilitation employees. If this is the case, how can one expect the facilities to reach the beneficiaries, he questioned. Toilets that are convenient for the physically challenged should be constructed at the tourist spots and a report should be submitted over the same. Proper information on the benefits available to them in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry departments should be provided to the physically challenged.

No inmates

The negligence of the Social welfare, BCM and Tribal Welfare Department officials came to the fore in the meeting over the admission of students to the hostel. 
 
About 73 seats have been reserved for the Post-Matric Hostels in the district but admissions are being given for just two students. Twenty two seats in Pre-Matric and 29 seats on Morarji Desai Hostel have been earmarked but till date, not even one student has been given admission.
