Vidushi Revathy Murthy will be reciting veena at 6 pm on the day, accompanied by vidwan A Radhesh on mridanga and vidwan V S Ramesh on ghata. The concert is open to all the music lovers of Mysore.

Vidushi Revathy Murthy learnt veena from her mother and guru vidushi Jayamma Kalabagal to begin with, followed by advanced tutelage from vidwan Srinivasa Iyengar.

She completed her  post-graduation in veena music from the University of Mysore and continued her higher learning from vidwan Mysore C Krishnamurthy.

She is also AIR  and Doordarshan artiste, having participated in veena duet as well as panchaveena recitals. She has to her credit national and international concerts in appreciation for her art, said a release from T P Krishnakantha, joint secretary

Biography

Veene Seshanna is perhaps the most famous musician of the Mysore royal court and proponent of the famous Mysore Bani  i.e. school of veena playing. He also represents the times when Mysore royal court was the cultural capital of the south.

Born into a family of musicians, he learnt from his father Bakshi Chikka Ramappa who was the court musician of Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, the then ruler of Mysore. He was a child prodigy and gained acceptance of the court even at the age of just ten. 

Later he learnt vocal music under the tutelage of Mysore Sadashiva Rao. Apart from Veena, he was adept at playing many instruments like piano, sitar and violin.

He also learnt Hindustani music and even western classical. He was also a composer.
