One arrested for trying to cheat friend

 The Upparpet police have arrested Ramesh (33), a resident of Walehalli in Arasikere taluk in Hassan district, who had allegedly cheated H M Chandrashekharaiah of  Kaurihatsu village, Tirthahalli taluk in Shimoga district, of Rs 28 lakh. Ramesh had told Chandrashekharaiah that the plate would fetch crores of rupees as it had got radio power energy. He would take up the issue with the department concerned and get the money and collected Rs 28 lakh.

DCP (West) B Shivakumar told reporters following Chandrashekharaiah’s complaint Ramesh was caught in Majestic area. Ramesh had given fake documents, including a cheque for Rs 51 lakh from Standard Chartered Bank, to Chandrashekharaiah. Ramesh was arrested when he came to Bangalore to collect additional Rs 10 lakh.

Traffic cop assaulted

The owner of an electronics shop was arrested on the charges of assaulting a traffic constable on duty, at SP Road on Wednesday. Shop owner A C Raju (50) was produced before the court. On Tuesday, the accused, who claims to be the President of the S P Road Electronics Association, had picked up a fight with Halasur Gate traffic constable (Cobra 4) K H Rudrappa, and humiliated him in public. Raju reportedly abused the constable and pulled his uniform in public.
