Sat phones to track Suvarna Bhoomi

Aided by the Global Positioning System (GPS),  the devices facilitate the department to provide accurate information on each beneficiary of the scheme and thus help check irregularities.

The photographs of the land selected for the scheme and the personal details of the beneficiary wil be fed into the satellite phone before releasing the first instalment of Rs 5,000. The progress of the work would be compared before releasing the second instalment.

“Since the device registers the photograph with latitude and longitudes, there is no scope for furnishing false information to the department,” deputy director S K Police Patil told Deccan Herald. Assistant horticulture officers will monitor the progress of the scheme .
