CEC inspects nine mines

The Committee inspected Sesa Goa, BBH, John Mines, Janthkal Mines, IBH, Mahabaleshwar, Narahari, Pooja and Anjana Mines in Chitradurga and Holalkere taluks.

However, CEC Chairman P V Jaikrishnan, who was taken ill yesterday, took rest and did not take part in the inspection. The other CEC members Mahendra, Vyas and investigating officer U V Singh undertook inspection of the above-mentioned mines.

The team visited the now defunct Janthkal Mines and checked for the compliance of forest rules and regulations.

Dr U V Singh had visited the same mines in 2009 as well. The team which found heaps of ore deposited in front of the Sesa Goa Mines directed the company officials to furnish relevant documents.

Noting heaps of ore being covered with sods, the team of officials questioned why the ore deposits earlier remained uncovered.
