A time to honour the toppers

The 15th Annual Convocation of IFIM Business School was organised in their college campus at Electronic City recently.

The convocation was declared open by the Chairman, CDE and Chief Editor of ‘Dalal Street Investment Journal’ V B Padode.

This was followed by the welcome address by B P Pethiya, Director, IFIM Business School.
Sanjay Padode, Secretary, CDE, was invited to join hands in lighting the convocation lamp.

Chief guest V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU, New Delhi; Bhaskar Bhat, MD, Titan Industries Ltd and Sudhir Kant, President, Krishna Antioxidants Pvt Ltd were among the guests.

As many as 205 students of the PGDM programme of 2009-11 received their diplomas at the ceremony.

Rajasekaran Pillai inaugurated the state-of-the-art computer centre at IFIM Business School and emphasised that well-augmented learning facilities will go along in transforming IFIM Business School into a paperless and green education centre.

Pethiya, in his welcome address, said that convocation is the culmination of the
relentless efforts of the students, faculty, management, stakeholders and parents.

He formally announced a new scholarship of Rs one lakh for girl student funded by V B Padode Foundation.

 He also conferred for the first time ‘The Distinguished Alumni Award’ to Debtosh Chatterjee and Gunit Singh from the first batch (1995-97) of IFIM.

Bhaskar Bhat asked students to learn from the past and embrace change. Sharing his thoughts on the importance of values, he said that it was easy to distinguish between right and wrong but the important part was to separate greed from need.

Congratulating each student, Sudhir Kant advised the graduates to be ready for the challenges of knowledge management and focus on the need to bring out the uniqueness in each.

He said success will come to those who can identify the right solution at the right time.

Student Bidish Chatterjee was awarded the ‘Chairman’s Gold Medal’ for the best all-rounder.

‘RAK Ceramic Award for Academic Excellence’, awarded to the topper amongst girl students, was given to Priyadarshini S. The ‘Chairman’s Gold Medal’ for topper in each stream were conferred to Mahesh Kumar S for PGDM General, Vidhushi Saxena
for PGDM Finance and Suhana K R for PGDM IB.

For the first time, functional toppers were also awarded. Varun Bhatnagar was
awarded the ‘Chairman’s Gold Medal’ for Marketing; Atmakuri Ram Mohan for
Finance and Amrita anguly for International Business.

The Chairman’s Gold Medal for Best Industry Internship Programme (IIP) was awarded to Amit Shankar C.
