City girls to pedal up highest motorable road

Sowmya Urs, a final year civil engineering student of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), is a part of the National Mountain Biking Expedition organised by Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI).

The cycling expedition would be spread over 19 days beginning at Seobagh base camp in Kullu. The route from Kullu to Khardung La is one of the toughest routes as participants would have ascend to a height of 18,380 ft.

Also they would have to pass through more than four mountain passes including Rohtang pass (13,051 ft), Baralacha La (16,050 ft), Lachung La (16,600 ft) and Tanglang La (17,469 ft).

Having to report at the base camp on August 16, Sowmya left the city for the expedition on Friday.
