Maruti Suzuki produces 200 cars at Manesar Monday

"Last week, the company had commenced part production of cars in Plant B, the second plant at Manesar. The weld shop at this plant was started last  Friday and is helping in ramping up production and overall volumes," the company said in a statement.

According to the statement, the two plants at Manesar are integrated and that the output from weld shop in plant B was fed to the assembly line of plant A.

"This gives the company flexibility to deploy more manpower in assembly operations and produce more vehicles," the statement said.

The company further said that it deployed 40 engineers from its Gurgaon plant to the Manesar facility on Monday.

"The company brought in another batch of 40 engineers from its Gurgaon plant today. This takes the current strength of people now available for production to over 840," the statement said.

Last week the company had recurited 430 ITI-trained operators. In addition to this, around 290 supervisors are involved in production activities and strengthening of quality systems.

The production at the plant came to an halt last Monday after the company suspended and dismissed 21 employees on charges of sabotaging the production and deliberately causing quality problems in the vehicles.

The  Manesar facility produces Maruti's bestseller hatchbacks and sedans like the Swift, Swift Dzire, A-Star and SX4. The majority of the automobile giant's production takes place at its remaining three plants in Gurgaon district.

The company had produced 150 cars at its Manesar plant on Saturday.
