Bagina offered to Yagachi, Hemavathi

Water-level had reached maximum in both the dams in Hassan district

Hemavathi Dam in Gorur, which irrigates 6.55 lakh in three districts, had reached the maximum level on last Saturday.

Due to heavy inflow, excessive water had been released through the four crest gates for the past four days. The Yagachi Dam in Belur had also reached the brim during the last week.

Somanna arrived in Gorur at noon after participating in the Teacher’s Day programme in Hassan city. Veeragase and other folk troupes welcomed Somanna at the Hemavathi Dam.

Later, he travelled to Belur to offer bagina at Yagachi Dam.

Good sign

Speaking to mediapersons on the occasion, Somanna said all the dams in the state had filled to the brim and was a good sign for the government.

Due to the timely rains, the farmers had been satisfied, he added.
