Last Updated 18 September 2011, 16:06 IST

Ex-MLA involved

Over 40 persons, including ex-MLA B V Karigowda, zilla panchayat member Swamygowda, gram panchayat president Swamy, grama panchayat member Dinesh, villagers Vishwanath (Esha), B V Shivanna, Ravi, Padmaraj, Venugopal, Mallesh, Nanjappa and others ransacked and damaged the old tiled-roof house and damaged maize crop in the fields.

Complaint
Keshava Iyengar has complained to the police that the crowd knocked at the door of their house, attacked his family members, house and farm and threatened to evict them.
He said even though he argued that his family has been in the house for the past 90 years, the hooligans were not in a position to listen.

Case in court
He is reported to have tried to convince them by saying that the case regarding the house and fields was in the court, and everybody should accept the final order expected shortly.

Price rise factor
It is learnt that the rise in price of land on the outskirts of the city is the reason for the villagers targetting the house and fields of the temple that is being used by the priest.
