All establishments on the roadside starting from the Bethamangala Police Station to the Grama Panchayat office were vacated. As many as three earth excavators were employed in the road widening work.
Moreover, owners of establishments themselves foresaw the clearing of encroachment. The bus stop too was brought down to facilitate the road widening work.
Legislator Y Sampangi took the lead and was seen supervising the encroachment clearance work.
Once the encroachment is cleared and the road widening work is complete, drainages will be created on either side of the road and two-way traffic flow will be created. At present development work to the tune of Rs 10 crore is being carried out in Bethamangala.
Road widening work in Kolar and construction of two-lane road in KGF is in progress.
Due to the encroachment drive, the police station too is being relocated near the Water Board office. However, three-fourth of acre has already been sanctioned for the construction of the new police station.
