These programmes are offered by a few universities in India in collaboration with foreign varsities where a student is given an opportunity to study half of his course in the parent country and the rest in the other country.

Lovely Professional University (LPU) is offering a series of twinning programmes in engineering, business administration and hotel management. These programmes are being run with more than 25  foreign university tie-ups.

The first half of the programme is in accordance with US pedagogy, which provides students with an opportunity to learn as per global standards and choose his field of specialisation after joining LPU’s partner university abroad.

Other universities providing similar courses are Christ University, Bangalore and Manipal University.

Prerequisites of a University offering such a programme:
*The University should be of a good standing and should be accredited by the UGC or the AICTE
*The foreign University should be of good repute and must have a good track of placements.

Cost of Education
The cost of studying these courses is a bit higher than the regular courses but with the exposure a student gets through these courses the expense is worthwhile.

The expenditure for a twinning course varies from Rs 2 lakhs to 4 lakhs during the programme duration in India and from Rs 12 lakhs to Rs 18 lakhs for the duration spent abroad. Thus, the student gets a cost advantage during a part of his studies in India.
