Special trains to meet Dasara rush

The trains will depart from Bangalore at 12 noon and arrive in Mysore at 2.55 pm on all these days. The trains will depart from Mysore at 9 am and reach Bangalore at 11.30 am.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr Anup S Dayanand told reporters on Thursday that the footfalls  would go up to 45,000 to 50,000 during Dasara from 20,000-25,000 on ordinary days.

On October 6, the Vijayadashami day, a special train will leave Mysore at 10.45 pm and arrive in Bangalore at 2 am on October 7. The passengers who want to return to Bangalore after watching Dasara procession and the torch-light parade at Bannimantap grounds will be benefited, he said. One of the two special train services between October 6 and 9, will leave Mysore at 5.30 pm and arrive in Bangalore at 10.30 pm, while another train will leave Bangalore at 12 midnight and reach Mysore at 3.30 am with stoppages at all stations, he said. Two more push-pull trains have been introduced particularly on October 2 and 9 (Sundays). These trains will depart from Mysore at 5.50 am and arrive in Bangalore at 9.10 am.

They will depart from Bangalore at 10 am and arrive in Mysore at 1.50 pm. One more train will leave Mysore at 2.30 pm and arrive in Bangalore at 6 pm, another train will leave Bangalore at 7 pm and arrive in Mysore at 10.30 pm. A special train is being introduced between Mysore and Chamarjanagar on October 6. It will depart Mysore at 8.40 pm and arrive in Chamarajanagar at 10.20 pm. The special train will depart Chamarajanagar at 10.35 pm and arrive in Mysore at 12.15 am.

Gold card launched

Medical Education and district in-charge Minister S A Ramdas launched the ‘Dasara Gold Card’ and publicity campaign, ‘Focus on wheels’, at the city railway station in Mysore on Thursday.

He said each gold card has been priced at Rs 6,000, and 500 such cards would be released. Card-holders can watch all programmes during the nine days of Dasara festivities. Two persons will be allowed for each gold card. Public can purchase the card online and tariff of hotels is also available for tourists on the internet.

For the first time, publicity campaign about Dasara is being launched in trains also. A video featuring the programme ‘Focus on wheels’  will be telecast aboard Chamundi Express, Tipu Express, Shimoga Inter-city and Hubli-Dharwad trains.
