BMTC bus crushes 2 students to death

Police said Gourav and Ashwin, both aged around 16 years, were studying in I PU at Jain College. They were returning home, with Ashwin riding pillion. The bus collided with the bike, killing them on the spot. The impact was so severe that the helmet Gourav was wearing broke into pieces. Fearing public ire, the bus driver fled the spot.

Protest
Soon after the accident, passersby rushed to the spot, informed the police and shifted the bodies to the Victoria Hospital where the post-mortem would be conducted on Saturday. Residents and shopkeepers, who witnessed the accident, staged a protest leading to a traffic jam for a while. It was only after the police intervened that the traffic could be cleared.

Police could not confirm whether the rider possessed a driving licence as both of them were below 18 years of age. The police said Gourav’s parents live in Delhi, and Ashwin is the son of a Superintendent in the Commercial Taxes Department, Bangalore.
