The deceased has been identified as Vijayalaxmi, wife of Muniraju and mother of two children was a resident of Ramagondanahalli.
She had come to undergo laparoscopic surgery and after a series of medical tests, she was sent into the operation theatre, but she got an attack of epilepsy and collapsed, said the police.
Dr Shivaram, District Health Officer, Bangalore Urban told Deccan Herald, around 30 cases were posted during a family planning operation camp. The doctors claimed that while the surgeon was about to start operating on Vijayalaxmi, she developed convulsions and they decided to shift her to Nimhans, but she died on the way to the hospital, he added. He said, the cause of death will be ascertained only after receiving the post-mortem report. If the doctors’ negligence is proved action would be taken against them.
Meanwhile, number of Dalit activists gathered in large numbers and protested against the doctors.
