Ramdev fan injured in police action dies

Rajbala, a resident of Gurgaon had been in critical condition for 114 days after she suffered a spinal injury during the police action against the yoga instructor and his supporters, who had gathered to protest against corruption. Rajbala breathed her last at the neurosurgery department ICU of G B Pant Hospital here at 10:25 am. She had undergone surgery and was on ventilator.

Police swoop down at Ramlila Maidan to evict Ramdev and his followers resulting in injuries to several people was severely criticised.

Rajbala’s family members blamed Delhi Police for her tragic death.“It happened because of the police...We all know on whose authority police took action. The whole country knows why this happened,” said Rakesh Malik, daughter-in-law of Rajbala.

Rajbala was one of the thousands of Ramdev’s followers, who had gathered at Ramlila Maidan to join his fast against corruption when police crackdown took place.

Ramdev in a statement said, “It is an irreparable loss to the whole organisation, agitation and nation.”
