Through her companies ‘Mindspower brand’ and ‘Farstar Distribution Network, she has been ‘igniting minds’ and ‘nurturing thoughts’.

Dr Shetty who is a perfect blend of traditions and modernity, is an example of how positive and innovative thoughts can be produced no matter whether the person in question is a literate or not and how one can translate those innovative thoughts into action and materialize the same.

With her tool kit of 47 thinking tools, she is out to create culture of innovation anywhere possible and for this she says that the most important thing required is happiness.

After scripting success in some of the heavy industries and banking giants of the country, Dr Shetty has never restricted her happiness and innovation mantras to the elites of the society. She says her programmes are for ‘doormen to the chairmen’.

Her logic is simple. If a person is not happy, he cannot be innovative and over the years Dr Shetty has been successfully preaching how to be happy, through her writing and thereby prompting innovative thoughts leading to ‘out of the box thinking’.

After traveling extensively to over 32 countries in the world, Dr Shetty feels that it is time for the world to listen to India because when the entire world is succumbing to materialism, India has a message to give to the world, from its treasure house of cultural, traditional heritage and spiritual strength.

Probably it is the fragrance of the culture and love for motherland that has kept Dr Shetty deeply rooted to her culture. Places and positions have not had any impact on her. Her writings are necessarily Indian and speak eloquently about the rich Indian culture and innate capability of problem solving that has evolved and passed on as legacy to Indians.

After four popular books, Dr Shetty authored her fifth book ‘Happiness Quotient’, which adorns the book-racks of many households and of course the plush offices of corporate firms across the country and beyond. The ‘Happiness Quotient’ has been listed the number one All India best seller under the non-fiction category.

“The Indian tradition shows us that positive radiant happiness is our birthright and programme outlined in Happiness Quotient (HQ) illustrates how to achieve it for ourselves. Happiness Quotient is a concept that measures the happiness each person has achieved in his life. It starts by describing the creation of a positive mindspace, one that nurtures the positive emotions that increase happiness. It also describes the impact of negative fields and how to avoid them,” said Dr Shetty.

Most of her writings are basically complex management theories presented in simplest story forms which can be comprehended by anybody. Dr Shetty hails from Mangalore and though born and brought up in Madras, Dr Shetty says that she has several beautiful memories of Mangalore nurtured by her because of her close connection to the city from her childhood days.

“I enjoy being in my home town. I visit the city at least twice a year and during my visits I travel and meet people so as to learn more about the aspirations of the people here and how things have been changing over the year, owing to various external forces,” says Dr Shetty adding that change is inevitable in any society and only thing people exposed to changes have to do is a choice- whether they want to be victims of this change or spearhead the change.

Knowing the pulse of the city, Dr Shetty is presently planning a book on Mangalore which will revolve around four generations. Her immediate projects are- books for age group of 15 to 25 years, followed by another book for age group of 25 to 35 years.

‘Happiness Quotient’ predominantly holds physical and mental well being to be the factors contributing to our happiness. If one may say, HQ serves bitter allopathic tablets in the form of tiny sugary pills. You enjoy every bit of it while you tread your path to solving your problems.

She was in Mangalore to launch her book ‘Happiness Quotient’ on Friday. Dr Shetty resides in Chennai with her husband and two sons. For those in pursuit of happiness Dr Shetty gives ‘Innovative Happiness Mantras’ everyday on her FaceBook.
