Group B have seen some riveting contests between Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, South Australia Redbacks, Warriors and Somerset, and all of them have a chance to qualify for the semifinals.

Here are the possibilities in Group B:

Kolkata Knight Riders (4 pts): They have finished their league engagements, with a net run-rate of +0.306. For KKR to qualify will require a series of results to go their way, espcially considering that RCB (2 pts) and Warriors (4) both have better net run rates than the Kolkatans.

RCB (2): They have a very good chance of qualifying if they win against Redbacks because their NRR will remain higher than KKR. Warriors have a better NRR, but if they lose to Somerset by a small margin, they will still remain second in the table in the event of a tight victory for RCB.

Warriors (4): Warriors need a win or a wash-out to be certain to advance. If they lose, then they will have to ensure that the NRR doesn’t fall too much from their current +0.592, the best in the group.

Somerset (3): After their huge 51-run defeat against RCB, the English side’s NRR is down to a poor -1.133. A win against Warriors will take them through, while defeat or a washout will end their journey.

Redbacks (3): Their NRR is a modest -0.775, and only a win will assure them of a place in the semis, regardless of the result in the other match.

It’s therefore everything to play for on the final day of league action. For some teams, victory alone will not do. The calculators in the dug-out will have a rough ride!
