Rs 30 crore of C'ballapur development: Minister

He was addressing the public, after hoisting the national flag, at the 63rd Independence Day celebrations, organised by the district administration at Chikkaballapur City on Saturday.

Under the Drought hit area development scheme 138 watershed region of 5 taluks of the district will be developed at the cost of Rs 4.14 crore. This will be extended to 74,000 hectare of agriculture land. Under the gramodyog project 34 villages of the district will be  developed at a cost of Rs 2.74 crore and the work is in progress, he added.

Chief minister will lay foundation stone for the construction of  buildings  for district level office in the month of September. An amount of Rs 1.5 crore has been granted to convert BB Road in double road he said.

Though incessant rains hit the city since early morning, all the programmes on the occasion of the Independence Day celebrations were held successfully. The minister received the guard of honour, in the rains. The pendals were drenched in rainwater. Even the elected representatives and the officials who were seated in the pendal, were drenched in rainwater.

None of the members of the audience left the venue, till the programme was over. Even schoolchildren, who were drenched in the rains on the Parade Grounds, rendered cultural programmes.

Freedom fighters and ex-servicemen were felicitated by the district administration.
C Narayanappa, Ashwathappa, Ramachandrappa, Shidlaghatta Narayanappa, Siddappa, Brahmaiah were felicitated.

MLA K P Bachegowda, ZP  President Vinuta Srinivas, Vice-President Chenduru Venka t esh, CMC President M Prakash, Deputy Commissioner Anwar Pasha, ZP CEO N Krishnappa, District Superintendent of Police Raveendra Prasad and others were present.
