Orderly system may be abolished in AP

The committee, which submitted its report to the chief minister, was set up following the death of a reserve police constable P Muralinath in suspicious circumstances while he was returning from Delhi. He had been sent there to work in the house of a senior police officer’s daughter.

Muralinath’s family had alleged he had been physically and mentally abused. He had complained to his wife that he was made to do all kinds of household work like a domestic help. Incidentally, Muralinath belonged to the Scheduled Caste community.

Vivek Dube, Additional Director General, who heads the anti-terror force “Octopus,” was asked to go on long leave, as the committee found him guilty of misuse of authority by sending a reserve police constable out of the state. Additional Director General Umesh Kumar has been temporarily put in charge.

The punishment is said to be based on the findings of the committee that investigated the system of orderlies.

The fact that the orderly system was still being followed is said to have shocked Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who set up the committee comprising.
