Buildings pulled down for road widening in Kadur

The demolition work was started by pulling down the compound wall of MLA Dr Y C Vishwanath’s residence cum office in the Town, on Friday. The demolition work continued even on Saturday.

Many public meets were convened in Kadur to spread awareness among the people about the road widening work and the demolition works that would be taken up to materialize the project. The administration failed to get consensus during the meeting attended by residents, elected representatives, traders and officials. With this the local residents were waiting to see what decision that governing body would take.

Recently decision of widening the road by 50 ft from the middle of the road was taken during a meeting convened by Legislative Council Chairman D H Shankarmurthy in Bangalore. It was decided to start the demolition work post Deepavali.

Accordingly the demolition work was started on Friday from the compound wall of the MLA himself. Government College compound, government hospital, quarters compound wall, Town Municipal Council complex, old Government hospital, Revenue department building were demolished under supervision of Chief Officer Manjunath.

The Chief Officer informed that a project proposal of Rs 13 crore has been submitted to the government for road widening and laying of drainages, of which, Rs three crore will be used to provide compensation for private land after demolition.
