During the hearing on Saturday, the Court, expressed its unhappiness over the plea of the prosecution to grant more time and said orders would be passed on the basis of the interim report if the final report was not submitted by the stipulated date.

Judge N K Sudhindra Rao said that final report should have been filed on November 5 (Saturday) according to the deadline set by the Court.

Lokauyukta Deputy Superintendent of Police Abdul Ahad sought the court to grant two more months to examine more than 25 witnesses and go through some more documents before submitting the final report.

On the occasion, the Lokayukta police submitted a status report on the progress made in the case following the registration of the FIR on October 21, 2011. They also enclosed documents, their explanation, witness testimonials, etc.

Private complaint

Trouble first started for Ashoka when RTI activist Jayakumar Hiremath filed a private complaint against him. Hiremath accused Ashoka of denotifying 23.12 guntas of land belonging to the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) in Lottegollahalli when B S Yeddyurappa was the Chief Minster.

The denotification caused a loss of Rs 50 crore to the State exchequer, Hiremath alleged. Yeddyurappa is accused No 2 in the case.
